Rebekah W. Costello is Pastor of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Itasca, IL. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Minor in Music from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C. She earned her Master of Divinity and Master of Sacred Theology at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, S.C. Having grown up in Dallas, N.C. Pastor Rebekah now resides with her husband and two children in Maywood, IL.
In the spring of 2008, Pastor Rebekah, three month old son, Andrew, and husband, the Rev. Michael D. Costello, moved from Irmo, S.C. to River Forest, IL, where Michael began serving as Cantor of Grace Lutheran Church and School. In 2011, they were happy to welcome their daughter Lydia into their family.
With much excitement and anticipation, On July 1, 2013, Pastor Rebekah began her call at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She was ordained on July, 7, 2013.
Pastor Rebekah enjoys music, systematic theology, teaching, spending time with her family and gardening. C.S. Lewis, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Martin Luther, Richard John Neuhaus and Dorothy Sayers, are, among others, her favorite authors and theologians.
Most of all, Pastor Rebekah is happy to welcome you to the Christian faith and dares you to see how your life story unfolds within God’s story—the story of the God who raised Jesus Christ from the dead.
