SMLC Statement of Welcome

Our Commitment

We are a small but mighty community of believers in the Itasca community. We name ourselves to be the Beloved Community, seeking to build the Body of Christ and inviting all who understand that mission of extending that proclamation of the belovedness OF all people TO all people, to come and build that Beloved body! In that light, we commit to being a Reconciling in Christ Congregation. As followers of Christ, who calls us to reconciliation and wholeness, we, the community of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, welcome all who are seeking God. Believing all are one in Christ Jesus, we welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions, as well as those who may have been excluded in other places because of other human distinctions, such as race, ability, age, or economic status. We commit ourselves to the work of anti-racism, in institutions and internally; interpersonal and structurally. We pledge to ourselves and to all others to live as a reconciling people seeking reparations in our life together and in our outreach to the world through the welcome, inclusion, celebration, and advocacy for the beloved in the kin-dom of God. (I told you; we are mighty!)
