About Worship at St. Matthew
At St. Matthew, our worship is traditional. We follow a liturgical order of worship, punctuated by the seven major seasons of the church year. The revised common lectionary directs us to our scripture readings for worship each week.
The organ is the primary instrument used in worship, at the same time; we welcome the use of various vocal and musical instruments as they add variety to music which serves as a vehicle for the proclamation of the gospel in worship.
Holy Communion is celebrated weekly. All baptized Christians are welcome to the Lord’s Table. We extend a pastoral blessing to those for whom the sacrament is not yet received.
As a means of grace, we believe that by participating in Holy Communion, we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ in, with and under the bread and wine. As this sacrament is received, through faith, Christ joins himself to the Church, and forms our congregation to be the body of Christ in our local community and beyond.
